1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers
1 teaspoon dried peppermint leaves
1 teaspoon dried lemongrass
1 teaspoon dried ginger (or a small piece of fresh ginger, sliced)
2 cups of water
1-2 tablespoons jaggery, grated (adjust to taste)
Lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Combine the Herbs:
Mix the chamomile, peppermint, lemongrass, and ginger in a bowl.
Boil the Water:
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle.
Steep the Herbs:
Place the mixed herbs in a teapot or a large heat-proof jar.
Pour the boiling water over the herbs.
Add Jaggery:
Add the grated jaggery to the tea. Stir until it is completely dissolved.
Steeping Time:
Cover and let the mixture steep for about 5-7 minutes. For a stronger flavor, you can steep it a bit longer.
Strain the Tea:
Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the herbs out of the tea as you pour it into cups.
Serve:
Optionally, add a slice of lemon to each cup for a refreshing twist.
Enjoy your herbal tea sweetened with jaggery!
Tips:
Storage: Store any leftover dried herbs in an airtight container away from direct sunlight to keep them fresh.
Variations: Feel free to adjust the proportions of herbs to suit your taste. You can also add other herbs like dried hibiscus, cinnamon sticks, or cloves for different flavors.
Fresh Herbs: If using fresh herbs, increase the quantity as dried herbs are more concentrated in flavor.
This herbal tea with jaggery is a warming and soothing drink perfect for any time of day. Enjoy the natural sweetness of jaggery combined with the calming properties of the herbs!
